Coordinator's Report

December 2008

Well as the season is well underway, so also is the development aspect of the West of Scotland Table Tennis League.

Junior League

We are now at the halfway stage of the Junior League, which is held at Holyrood Sports Centre. There are over 70 players battling it out over 3 divisions in this competition and there have been lots of excitement. It is good to see clubs having their own team kit as a way of identifying who each club is. It is also good to see the number of spectators who turn up to this event and are amazed to see the youngsters in action. Full results and averages

Minor League

This is a brand new development in the West of Scotland for season 2008/2009. This event takes place at Drumchapel High School and also has a further 3 divisions of teams. There are over 70 registered players competing and is for players under the age of 13. We are also at the halfway stage in this competition as well. Full results and averages

My thanks to Alex Hardie, Malcolm Smith and Sinclair Houston, Terry McLernon and Nathan Courtney in keeping these league running, setting up the halls and keeping the website up to date.

North Ayrshire Schools League

Another new initiative this season is the North Ayrshire Schools League, at St. Matthews Academy, Saltcoats. There are currently 3 divisions and the event is going well. Full details are on the North Ayrshire Ayrshire Table Tennis website.

New Developments

There is a new development starting in East Ayrshire in the next week at Stewarton. This is in the very early stages of getting off the group, but their base accommodates 10 tables and WoSTTL have already started engaging with East Ayrshire in order to get this established.
