West of Scotland Regional Development Camp

The West of Scotland development programme continued on Sunday 27 November  with our first regional development training camp led by Scottish Internationalist Calum Main and assisted by Tao Shi.

This season, a number of training camps have been organised to cater for the junior players in the West of Scotland. There are three development camps and thee Performance Camps organised in 2016/2017.

16 players from Brunswick, Joe Wilson TTC, Brunswick, South Ayrshire, 44th Boys Brigade, East Kilbride, North Ayrshire and Castlemilk were in attendance as well as a number of club coaches.

For many of the kids in attendance this was their first training camp and there was a lot of focus on technique and service.

WoS Development Coordinator Phil McCallum quoted “It is great to see some of the new players who compete in the West of Scotland Junior League taking the next step and coming along to our regional development camp. My thanks to Calum Main and Tao Shi for taking the camp and passing on their knowledge to the players and coaches”.

The West of Scotland TTL has put in a comprehensive four year development plan and was also recently successful in obtaining 10k in funding from the awards 4 all programme to purchase new equipment for this programme of development. They have also been successful in receiving TTS development funding this year.
