Match Secretary's Report

Division 1

The first division was dominated by the young squad from Drumchapel A. Sepehr Bidari was undefeated and ably supported by Yaser Razouk, Connor Moran and Graham Donnelly. Knightswood “A” finished in second place and the rest of the division had a very competitive season with young players Andy and Ross Grant from Glasgow South A and James Kennedy, Andrew McPherson, Chris Barclay and Jamie Skelton from North Ayrshire, all proving that they can hold their own at this level.

Division 2

South Ayrshire - Division 2 ChampionsThe second division was the most competitive division in the league with South Ayrshire securing the title from Glasgow South B by a single point. Division one will be strengthened by the addition of South Ayrshire and Glasgow South B could join them as a promoted team if they overcome Knightswood B in the play-off. The two outstanding players of the 2nd division were Roy Claxton (South Ayrshire) and the ever improving Cameron Hussain (Glasgow South B).

 Division 3

In the third division Kilwinning B were too good for the rest of the league and will do well in the second division. Their strength and depth - John Patterson, Neil MacDonald, Alex Hughes and Arthur Taylor - was the reason for their success this year. Players expected to move up on the basis of their results would be Sergio Rodriguez, Caitlin Cameron and David Sherry. The new teams had a great first season with Lomond A finishing second and earning a play-off place for promotion to the second division. Lomond B finished middle of the table and Parkland began winning more games as the season progressed.

Maxwell Wilson Cup/House of Harris Cup

The Cup Finals were a hard fought affair but the strengths of the squads showed in divisions one and two with Drumcapel A beating Nomads 5-1 and Glasgow South “B” beating Knightswood C 5-2.

Peter Coia Cup

The division three cup final was outstanding with all their games being close. The match went to the final game 3-2 to Lomond B who won the match 5-4 over Lomond A.

I hope next season we can have a more balanced league with the same amount of teams in each division. The first division was short on numbers which made it less appealing to players who like to play each week.

The only problem we had this season was the time taken to re-arrange postponed matches. Teams should make more of an effort to play these matches as it has an effect on all the other teams. At the AGM we still had a match outstanding in the second division which will decide the winner and the handicap cup was only at semi-final stage, due to teams postponing in earlier rounds. If teams cannot accommodate home cup ties they should inform the Match Secretary.

I hope everyone has a good summer and we will see you all back rejuvenated for the new TT season.
