Junior League Update

The second day’s play (1.11.08) of this competition produced some closely fought encounters and some excellent table tennis.
Division 1
Drumchapel A is still the team to beat. They racked up three 5-0 wins against Holyrood B, North Ayrshire A and Holyrood C respectively and are hot favourites to lift this title. North Ayrshire A is in second place with victories over Drumchapel C (3-2) and East Kilbride (5-0) followed by Holyrood A who produced emphatic wins over East Kilbride (5-0) and Holyrood B (5-0). Holyrood C also produced two good wins over 44th BB (4-1) and Drumchapel B (3-2) to stay in the top half of the table.
Division 2
North Ayrshire C secured three solid wins against Drumchapel C (4-1), Holyrood D (4-1) and, a close one, Holyrood E (3-2) to move into first position. They have a six point lead over North Ayrshire D and Drumchapel C but Ayrshire D has a game in hand. Holyrood E and 44th BB may still harbour title ambitions but they can’t afford to drop many points in the remaining games and also hope that the North Ayrshire clubs slip up.
Division 3
North Ayrshire F and Drumchapel D share first position in this league but it is very close with no less than six teams still in with a chance of lifting the title. The 44th BB obviously like the score 3-2 because they remain unbeaten and all four victories have been yes, you’ve guessed it, 3-2. Dropping two points each match could, however, prove costly. North Ayrshire E and Holyrood F have both played four and won two and are three and two points adrift respectively but they both have a game in hand. East Kilbride D is in third place and produced two good wins over Knightswood B (5-0) and C (4-1). It’s still all to play for.
