If you want to read more about the Ogimura  I would recommend OGI - The Life Of Ichiro Ogimura by Mitsuru Jojima (now available from Tees sport). The first half of the book when he is developing into a world class player is particularly interesting – illustrating how single minded he was. He won both the men's singles and team titles at the world championships in London in 1954 (Swaythling Team Final Scores), while a student at Nihon University. He led Japan to five straight championships in the men's team competition beginning in 1954. During his career, he captured 12 world titles in singles, mixed doubles and team competitions.
