League Coordinator's report (Feb 2009)

We’ve enjoyed a good start to the New Year in terms of development; here is a breakdown of what has happened and what is coming up.

Regional Training Camps
 
Gordon Clancey in actionThe third regional training camp took place at Holyrood Sports Centre on Saturday 24th January 2009. The camp was led by Scottish Internationalist Gordon Clancey. 13 attended and a further training session is planned for the 15th March in preparation for the forthcoming Inter League.
 
Junior League
 Junior League Images
The third round of the junior league took place on 17th January 2009. There were plenty of very close matches in all divisions. Drumchapel A look likely to retain the Division 1 title; North Ayrshire are favourites for Division 2 and Drumchapel are leading in Division 3 due to a walkover in the last round of matches.
 
Minor League
 
The third round of minor league matches takes place on Saturday 14th Febraury at Drumchapel High School. These divisions are also very competitive with North Ayrshire, Knightswood and Bankhead Primary competing for honours.
 
West of Scotland Open
 
The West of Scotland Open was held on Saturday 31st January and Gavin RumgaySunday 1st February 2009. The event was a tremendous success, with players from all over Britain competing. A full report is available on this website.
 
 
West of Scotland Schools Championships
 
Sean DohertyThe West of Scotland Schools Championships takes place on Saturday 7th February 2009. There is a good entry for most of the age categories. All of the West’s top ranked National Players like Sean Doherty, Scott Barton, Adam Gaffney are competing to qualify for the Scottish Schools Finals in Perth at the end of the month.
 
Coach Registrations
 
Coach registrations to Table Tennis Scotland are now due. This registration is extremely important if coaches are working with children or vulnerable adults. It also provides insurance cover for coaches in the event of accidents. Forms are available on the Table Tennis Scotland website.
 
Selections for the Commonwealth TT Championships
 
Corinna WhitakerCongratulations to Craig Hardie, Corinna Whitaker and Natasha Milliken on their selection for the Commonwealth Table Tennis Championships, being held in Glasgow this May.
 
 
Inter League (21st & 22nd March 2009)
 
Selections for the Inter League will be announced within the next few weeks on this website.
