Junior Closed Report
A healthy number of players turned up for the second West of Scotland Junior League Closed at Holyrood Sports Centre on Saturday 15 December. Two events, a Minor (Under 13) and Junior (Under 18), took place in a friendly but competitive atmosphere.

Minors
Connor & GrantNumber one seed Grant Lewis lived up to his seeding winning his group and the quarter final against Chris Barclay. Taking his place in the semi final he faced none other than his brother, Stewart. Grant proved to be too consistent and duly secured his place in the final. In the other half of the draw Connor Moran came through a semi final contest against Andrew McPherson. Grant appeared to have the measure of Connor throughout their encounter and in a controlled performance, he emerged a worthy winner.

Juniors
Scott Barton was an impressive winner of this event. He won his group Adam & Scottcomfortably and secured wins over club mates Duncan Smith in the semi and Adam Gaffney in the final.
Duncan also performed well to reach the semi finals. He came through an extremely competitive group emerging as runner-up, thanks to a count back. The winner of his group, Joe Dyer also progressed to the semi final stage but lost out to Adam. Three of the four semi finalists Scott, Adam and Duncan were eligible for the minor event – a very encouraging sign for the future of West and Scottish Table Tennis.
