Jim Thomas

It is with sadness that I announce the death of Jim Thomas.

Jim Thomas Jim contributed to many areas of our sport. He was a keen competitor in the West League during the 1960s and 70s and he is probably best known for his skills as a top class administrator, International Umpire and tournament referee. I remember him umpiring the Men’s final at the 1997 Glasgow Commonwealth Championships at the Kelvin Hall.

He and his wife Doreen ran many successful events, including the Festival Weekend where the Inter League and Scottish Closed were combined over one weekend. He was always very willing to volunteer his time, knowledge and skill to ensure that tournaments were successful and an enjoyable experience for all involved.

Our sincere sympathy and condolences go to Doreen, Davie and Alan.
