Premier League Week 2

Drumchapel Vets 0-5 Drumchapel B
Drum Vet’s first outing this season brought them up against last year’s champions Drumchapel B, a tricky fixture for them. Peter Cameron was first up for the Vet’s and took the in form Sean Doherty to deuce in the first end but Sean then took control winning the next two ends 6 and 7. New ‘boy’ to the Premier League Gerry Keenan then played extremely well against Daniel Swaitek but lost out in a five end match. The remaining matches were all competitive with the vets picking up another couple of ends but in the end youth came out on top and Drum B secured 5 very useful points.

Greenock 3-2 Holyrood
Callum Gerrard was first out of the blocks against Holyrood’s Peter Shaw and he never looked back, winning three straight. Scott Gilbert then returned to competitive action with a solid 3-1 win against Malky Hutton. Greenock restored their lead in the doubles winning 3 close ends but Scott again got Holyrood back on level terms with an impressive 3-1 win over Callum. Malky then put in a match winning effort to secure a rare win over Peter.

GSC A 2-3 North Ayrshire
The Glasgow Students fielded the same team as the first week and faced a changed North Aryshire team with old campaigner Ian Macpherson Jnr. standing in for Chris Main. Paul Marshall got the Students off to a winning start with an impressive 3-0 win over Ian but Richard Main got North Ayrshire back to two matches all with a 3-1 win against Siful Kahn. The Students then won the all important doubles and looked to be heading for a second consecutive win but the Ayrshire combo had other ideas with Richard winning 11-9 in the fifth against Paul and Ian posting a 3 games to 1 success in the deciding match. Three points to North Ayrshire.

Drumchapel C 0-5 Drumchapel A
Drumchapel C faced a severe test against Drumchapel A (the pre season bookies favourite for the title). Craig Hardie set the benchmark with a comfortable three straight win over Corinna Whitaker and, not to be outdone, Terry Mclernon Jnr. repeated the same score against Natasha. The doubles produced the best match of this encounter but the A team proved to be just too experienced, shading the win in five. Terry and Craig then completed the whitewash, winning 3-0 and 3-1 respectively.
