Vets Titles for West Players
West players were prominent at the Scottish Vets National Championships which took place at Bathgate Academy on Sunday 29 March, 2009.
Derek “The Double” Lundie secured two titles, the Over 50’s and the Open Men’s doubles. In the Over 50’s Derek won the title after a countback with Geoff Salter and Peter Shaw. Derek lost to Geoff but beat Pete, who then helped his pal to the title with a first ever win over Geoff.
Peter and Derek then teamed up in the doubles and after a five end rollercoaster semi final win over Sinclair Houston and Davie Thomas continued with a 3-0 win over the Edinburgh pair Geoff Hunter and Eddie Scott in the final.
George Johnston maintained his season’s perfect score in the Over 60’s with another national title. You’ll have to invest in a new display cabinet at this rate George!
Malky Hutton was runner up to a revitalised Geoff Salter in the Open and Tony McGrath picked up second place in the Over 70s. Congratulations to all.
